Add a prefix to your Xero invoice numbers

By default the Xero invoice number is built from your Shopify order number. If your Shopify orders carry a prefix that isn't reaching Xero - orders showing as ETC1234 in Shopify but 1234 in Xero - you can add that prefix so the two match.

Go to Setup - Xero and find the Invoice Prefix section. The app suggests a prefix based on your Shopify order number format, so in most cases it is already filled in for you. Check it looks right, change it if not, then Save.

The prefix is also used on payment gateway fee bills, so those stay consistent with your invoices.

This applies to orders synced from now on. Invoices already in Xero keep the number they were given, however you can update existing invoices by reposting them in Dashboard - Orders.
