Does inventory sync from Shopify to Xero?

Yes, though the two directions work differently.

Selling moves stock in Xero on its own. Once a Shopify variant is matched to a tracked Xero item, each order posts against that item, and Xero reduces its quantity on hand and records the cost of the sale. This needs no setup beyond turning matching on — see Match product SKUs to Xero items.

Movements that are not sales are the exception. A stock take, a purchase order received into Shopify, or a quantity you edit by hand changes Shopify only, and Xero keeps its previous figure. Dashboard - Products shows you where the two have drifted apart, badging the variant Inventory mismatch and showing the difference.

Making Xero follow your Shopify quantities

We can push your Shopify quantities across to Xero and keep them updated as stock moves, with Shopify as the source of truth. This is not something you can switch on from the app, and how we set it up depends on how you manage stock, please email us at help@hyvelabs.co with your store URL.

For one or two items it is quicker to correct them in Xero yourself. Go to Business, select Products and services, open the item and set both the quantity and the total cost value. Setting the cost value as well as the quantity keeps the item's cost pool right, and the cost pool is what Xero uses to cost every future sale.

If a mismatch looks wrong to you, send us your store URL, the SKU, and the two quantities showing on the Products dashboard.
