Mapping Shopify POS Locations to Xero Tracking Categories
This feature allows you to categorise your Shopify sales by physical store location within Xero. By mapping your Shopify POS locations to Xero Tracking Categories, you can separate your revenue and reporting for different storefronts while maintaining a single Xero organisation.
How It Works
Every time a sale is made at a physical Shopify POS location, the system identifies the store name and applies a corresponding Tracking Option to the Xero invoice.
- Automation: The system reads the Shopify location data automatically during the sync process.
- Precision: Each invoice is updated with the specific tracking option (e.g., "Bondi Store" or "Melbourne CBD") based on where the sale occurred.
- Reporting: This enables you to run Profit and Loss reports in Xero filtered by specific locations to see how each shop is performing.
Setup Requirements
Before requesting activation, please ensure the following are configured in your Xero account:
- Existing Category: A Tracking Category (e.g., "Region" or "Store Location") must already exist in Xero.
- Created Options: All individual store names must be created as options within that category.
- Exact Matching: The names provided for mapping must match your Xero settings exactly to avoid sync errors.
How to Request Setup
Currently, location mapping is configured on the backend by our support team and is not available via the app dashboard.
To enable this for your store, please email support with the following details:
- Shopify Store URL (e.g., your-store.myshopify.com)
- Xero Tracking Category Name (e.g., "Location")
- Mapping List: A list showing each Shopify Location and its corresponding Xero Tracking Option.
Important Note: Tracking is applied at the time the invoice is first created in Xero. If mappings are changed in the future, existing invoices will not update automatically. A re-post of those orders would be required to apply the new tracking.
